Â鶹´«Ã½ and Valdese water customers can now use water as normal after the two local governments lifted boil water advisories Wednesday morning.
The city of Â鶹´«Ã½ said the boil water advisory also is lifted for Brentwood Water Corporation customers, town of Drexel, Burke County and Lake James communities.
The water conservation order also was lifted for Valdese users.
Â鶹´«Ã½ electric
The city of Â鶹´«Ã½ said electric crews were working Wednesday to restore power to Asheville Street, East Union and Meeting streets, the downtown area and Carbon City Road. There will be service trucks fixing low-hanging power lines, the city said.Â
And depending whether crews get done at those locations, they could possibly start work at Riverside Drive, Vinearden Road and Kirksey Drive, the city said.

It is not just the city crews working to restore the power. Eight public power crews from other North Carolina cities are helping with the power restoration — from Greenville, Washington, Albemarle, Gastonia, Maiden, Newton, Granite Falls and Wilson, the city said.
Where to get food, water, supplies
Burke County established new points of distribution for emergency supplies throughout the county on Tuesday.
The supplies include water, non-perishable food, toiletries, diapers, baby wipes, batteries and other essential items. The items are available at no cost, the county said.
The county said there are no time constraints for accessing the items; if you see someone at the distribution point, you are welcome to stop and collect the items you need.
The new locations are:
- George Hildebran Fire/Rescue, 7470 George Hildebran School Road, Connelly Springs.
- Longtown Fire Department, 7765 South Mountain Institute Road, Nebo.
- Enola Fire / Rescue, 2510 Enola Road, Â鶹´«Ã½
- Jonas Ridge Fire Department, 8224 Buckeye Hollow Road, Newland.
Need a shower?
Phifer Family YMCA is open to the public for showers or to charge electronics. The center is opened from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. No exercise or swimming activities are currently taking place at the center, according to the YMCA.
It is located at 2165 S. Sterling St., Â鶹´«Ã½.
The Valdese Recreation Department has opened to allow the public to shower for free. People using the showers are asked to bring their own towel and toiletries, the town said.
The showers are available from 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
