A man arrested after a break-in at a car dealership has been accused of stealing from multiple places, including a restaurant and church.
David Allen Dawson, 37, was charged with felony breaking or entering a motor vehicle, breaking and entering generally, larceny after breaking and entering and possession of stolen goods or property, and larceny of chose in action, along with misdemeanor charges of injury to personal property, larceny and two counts of possession of stolen goods/property, according to an arrest report from the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Department of Public Safety.

Officers were called to Everett Chevrolet off Bush Drive near Interstate 40 exit 105 just after 1 a.m. on Monday, according to information from the department. Security cameras caught a man breaking into several vehicles at the dealership as officers headed toward the scene.
When officers arrived, they took Dawson into custody and found items that belonged to Timberwoods Family Restaurant, wildland firefighters who were staying at the Hampton Inn, and Rosa De Saron Church on East Fleming Drive, the department said. Officers also found damage to a Wilkie Construction Trailer.

Officers were able to return several items, including the firefighters’ equipment. Wildland firefighters work for the U.S. Forest Service and other federal agencies to fight and prevent wildfires.
Dawson, who was also wanted for previous break-ins around Morganton, was held under a total $22,000 secured bond, according to jail records and information from the public safety department.
