A restaurant in Â鶹´«Ã½ announced this week that it has closed.
Green Street Grille at 601 S. Green St., Morganton, posted on its Facebook page on Tuesday that it closed at Christmas after its owner received an eviction notice. The post said the eviction notice gave the restaurant until Wednesday to be out of the building. Tammy Burns is listed as the registered agent on the Green Street Grille LLC filing.
The post said the restaurant wasn’t making enough to pay the rent and utilities at the building, which was formerly Maria’s Italian Eatery. The post said some months utilities and rent was more than $9,000. The restaurant fell behind on bills, the post said.Â
"I was so determined to try to make it work because I loved my customers and I loved Burke County," the post said. "It saddens me so much."

The owner was not able to take equipment and other items from the building after closing, and there are no plans to relocate, the post said.
The post said the owner felt Christmas week was the best time to close.
"I do apologize for not being able to make that closing announcement until now," the post said. "I am terrible with saying goodbye. I get way too emotional."
The building is owned by Clark Station LLC, a real estate rental company based in Morganton, according to county property records. The company’s registered agent is Virginia Erwin, according to state business filings.
