A second person has been charged in a shooting in downtown Hickory that seriously injured a bystander in the early morning hours of Jan. 1.
Javier Hampton Trevino Jr., 20, of Lenoir, is charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder and one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, the Hickory Police Department said in a news release Thursday morning.
On Thursday evening, Hickory police said Patsy Elaine Humphries, 31, of Lenoir, was taken into custody and charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder and one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
The shooting occurred around 2 a.m. at the intersection of Second Avenue Northwest and Main Avenue Northwest beside Union Square in downtown Hickory on Wednesday, Hickory police said.

Jordan Blake Ramey, 22, of Yadkinville, was shot. Ramey is at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Ramey was in stable condition as of Thursday morning, Hickory police said.
Police said an altercation involving a group of individuals occurred near the intersection. During the altercation, a weapon was fired, Hickory police said.
Ramey was a bystander caught in the line of fire, police said.
Trevino is being held in the Catawba County Detention Facility without a bond.
Humphries was placed in the Catawba County Justice Center under a $375,000 secure bond. The Lenoir Police Department assisted with the apprehension of Humphries, Hickory police said in a news release.
The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office and Lenoir Police Department assisted with the investigation and arrest of Trevino, Hickory police said.
Trevino and Humphries are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
