A Burke County woman will spend at least five years in prison after pleading guilty to numerous felony charges.
Sarah Worth
Sarah Marie Worth, 33, of Connelly Springs was sentenced to five to seven years behind bars during Catawba County Superior Court on April 3, according to a press release from District Attorney Scott Reilly.
The sentence, handed down by Judge Karen Eady-Williams, came after Worth pleaded guilty to numerous felony charges and was classified a habitual felon status, according to the release.
Worth entered guilty pleas to two counts of possession of firearm by a felon, attempted obtaining property by false pretense and uttering forged instrument, altering a (vehicle) title, possession of stolen goods and misdemeanor larceny, the release said.
The sentence length for Worth was enhanced by her habitual status stemming from prior felony convictions for obtaining property by false pretense in February 2023, felony larceny after breaking/entering in December 2020 and felony larceny after breaking/entering in October 2018, according to the release.
All of those convictions were linked to criminal activity in Burke County, the release said.
The cases were investigated by the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office, Hickory Police Department and the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles License and Theft Bureau. Assistant District Attorney Howard Wellons prosecuted the matter for the state with aid from Legal Assistant Meredith Scott.
