Marcus Huffman Jr.
Marcus Wilson Huffman, Jr., 82, of Banner Elk, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Watauga Medical Center, following a period of declining health.
Marcus was born February 15, 1942 in Burke County to the late Marcus Wilson Huffman Sr. and Annie Mae Branch Huffman. He was of the Baptist faith and worked as a timber cutter. Marcus also used his wood and crafting skills to make baskets, birdhouses, and other crafts. He was known as the "checkers champion" and working crossword puzzles.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Marie Love Huffman; brother, Bill Huffman; step-sons, Jimmy Presnell and Tommy Presnell; and sister, Laura Huffman.
He is survived by his daughters, Wanda Huffman Blazer and husband, Michael, of Burnsville, NC, and Linda Huffman and partner, Tommy, of Jefferson, NC; and step-sons, Kenneth Presnell, of Morganton, and Melvin Presnell and wife, Penny, of Banner Elk. Also surviving are his sisters, Louise Huffman Beshears, of Morganton, Barbara Huffman Powell, of Glen Alpine, and Pamela Huffman Penley, of Glen Alpine; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
