James Clayton Chapman

James Clayton Chapman, 61, of Morganton, NC, passed away, Thursday, November 28, 2024. Born on July 23, 1963, he was the son of the late Boyd and Nixie Chapman.
James loved dogs, particularly his St. Bernards, loved sci-fi fantasy and history. He owned the Center Theater in Lenoir, NC. James was known for his management in retail but was also in construction and stage lighting. He played as an extra in "The Last of the Mohicans" and also worked as a lighting technician on the Valdese drama "From This Day Forward."
James is survived by his brother, Randy Chapman; niece, Laura Davis (Troy); great-nieces, Morgan and Emma.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his three fur babies, George, Bruno, and Caboose.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Sossoman Funeral Home. A graveside will follow at 2 p.m. at Burke Memorial Park.
